Obtaining and accurate quote

At first glance this step seemed as though it would be simple. But that hasn't been the case. On the 21st of February 2013, friends sponsored me to have new MRI scans done in Ukraine. We then used these when contacting western doctors and hospitals. Most of them did not get back to us. Eventually we found a hospital in the UK that was willing to provide consultation.

UK consultation

We visited the Royal Free Hospital in London on the 3rd June 2013, meeting with the consultant Mary Murphy. Mary assessed me and advised that the MRI scans from Ukraine were very poor quality, and that I'd need to have new ones done with Gallium of both my spine and cranium. The cost of this is £2,000.

After my appointment we went to see London.

UK MRI Scans

AllAffiliatePro were kind enough to sponsor my second visit to the UK. I have had new high quality MRI scans. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. They also taught me intermittent self catheterisation, which is much safer than the manual evacuation I had been doing previously. They said this is probably already added years onto my life :). After the hospital Lyle took me to see Oxford and Bristol

The scans are still being reviewed by Mary Murphy. I hope very much that she will be able to operate.

Fund raise for operation

On 16/10/2013 Mary Murphy came back to us saying the condition was Giant lumbar neurofibroma with syringomyelia and scoliosis but she was unable to perform the operation herself as it didn't fit with her cyber knife specialty. She referred us to Dr. Shetty whom after a couple of email exchanges did not reply to us. Meanwhile we had sent the MRI scans to a hospital in Germany. This hospital (Charite International Health Care) has some Russian speaking staff and so in many respects would make my stay easier.

On 9/1/2014 they replied with the quote of €51,470.

On 12/12/2016 we got a qoute from International Neuroscience Institute in Hannover, Germany. Prof Dr. med. Amir Samii named the cost might be not under €50.000.

Taking into account traveling, living expenses and possible followup support requirements we aim to raise €70,000 to be safe. We are currently looking for the correct means of collecting the money, possibly through a charity. Please contact us if you have any experience in this area, or visit my page on YouCaring. Whatever You can donate to help me out will be greatly appreciated.
